CONCACAF Championship Celebration

Project Description:

CONCACAF is one of FIFA's six continental governing bodies for soccer around the world. Each year, the best teams from each league compete in a tournament of champions to crown a continental champion to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup against the best from other continents.

Our historic tournament victory was the first ever for an MLS team. As one of the  winningest teams in MLS history, the Sounders have raised their share of titles, but this was different and our team was challenged with making this feel even bigger. In addition to unveiling the CONCACAF Championship banner, we created a special branded pre-match ceremony highlighting our team's historic success.

My Role:

I envisioned a ceremony featuring famous Seattle indie rock band, The Head & The Heart, playing live on the-field synced to pyro at eight locations while the Navy's Parachute Jump Team flew into the stadium navigating around the "ring of fire" pyro surrounding them with a huge "Champions" banner landing at mid-field timed perfectly to the end of the musical performance and final pyro blast.

When I pitched the iea to the head of the Navy Leap  Frog Parachutte Team, he responded by telling me I was crazy, but as we talked it through we found a way to execute it.

The Outcome:

The ceremony was highly praised by internal leaders and fans alike.

Our team president and minority owner of the Vegas Golden Knights called it "The best 10 minutes of game presentation he has ever see." Many internal staff said similar things.

Fan reaction on Instagram and other social channels was similarily complimentary.

To ensure safety and exact timing, we conducted a live rehearsed jump the day prior with pyro locations to ensure jump team knew how to safety navigate entrance and time landing. We also implemented special match day protocol as an additional safety meas
