Left Out in the Cold No More

Project Description:

I saw a USA Today article about a homeless man having hot coffee poured over his head by a local offering him $5 to do so. I noticed the homeless man in the photo was wearing a very beat up 49ers parka and decided there had to be something we could do.

My Contribution:

I ciruclated an e-mail to our public relations and marketing teams asking if we could send a care package including a new jacket and some warm weather items to keep him cold on those philadelphia nights. I contacted a homeless outreach group in his area who delivered the goods for us. The goal was simply to give some warmth back to a man who was living in a very cold world, regardless if he was actually a fan or not and without asking anything in return.

The Outcome:

Not only did we achieve our goal in keeping him warm but we made his week (turns out he was a die-hard 49ers fans) and the story continued to grow as we once again received an overwhelming outpouring of media attention and support.
